WHITEHAVEN driver Jessica Edgar has competed in the second race of the debut F1 Academy season.
Drivers in the new racing series headed to Valencia. In race one, Jessica had a shaky start, costing her some places in the race before ultimately finishing P9.
For race two, Jessica had an improved start a lot, but ended up P9 once more.
In the third and final race of the weekend, Jessica had a pit-stop to points race following a collision on the first lap which left her with subsequent wing damage.
Jessica held onto P9 until she received a mechanical flag which meant the team had to pit. Fortunately a safety car was brought out meaning Jessica could catch up, and with only a few laps left of the race, she managed to bring points home in P9.
Jessica said: "It was a tough weekend for us, we struggled a bit for pace which made the races quite tough for me. However, we fought hard and it payed off in race 3.
"We had a collision which meant we had to pit. After the pit we were in 15th, a safety car came out which meant I could catch up and I managed to pull a ninth out the bag."
"I think overall the team and I learnt a lot which we can carry onto the next round in Barcelona."
