Carlisle United fans took to Twitter to give the News & Star their views after the 1-0 play-off semi-final first leg defeat at Bradford City.
Here is a selection of their comments.
Goals win games, but we are struggling to score. We had the chances! Still we could have folded after they scored but we battled away and took the game to Bradford. There is everything still to play for in the second leg. Find our shooting boots and we will be fine! (@cumbrianbluess)
We got this! Thought we bossed the game but did not make enough happen where it mattered. As well as Guy played it was Moxon who we needed to see on the ball. Much better second half in that respect. Carlisle at Brunton Park will turn this one around. (@Andythehood)
Lost due to not having a genuine goal threat. Referee lost control early doors. Would have taken that before kick off. Best performance for a long time. They're not that good. (@FeelingHoly)
Nervy start. We played well after they scored. Some of the decisions were awful!! We were the better team by far second half. Could see the confidence in the players at the end of the game for Saturday. Win would have been amazing. Draw great. But would have taken 1-0 at 7pm (@JasonGarrick4)
Draw would have been fair result on balance; however, still very much in tie. Lots of positives, and if we can take the second half performance into Saturday no reason why we can’t be celebrating at the end of the game. (@dnm_thegoose)
Compare and contrast that performance with the one at Sutton. Just one thing to do between now and Saturday: practice headers. We've been 1-0 down before in the first leg of a play-off before under Simmo. It's written in the stars... (@1StevieKilner)
Plenty positives. Glad to see Joel Senior back in the side, Moxon is one hell of a player and young Taylor Charters impressed when he came on. Got to be better in the final third. Thought Mellish was a miss. Them last 20 mins were made for him in the loose cannon role. UTB (@ScottBeeby1)
We played well, should have taken our chances but didn’t they took their only real chance. Edmo should start next game imo, we need to play that way again, get BP packed and bouncing and if we can get the Patrick back who saved us last season that would be great. (@andrewhoddie)
Had the chances to win that. Garner, Edmo, Charters and Moxon the stand outs. Play like that and we beat them at home. Very good of the EFL to keep the usual awful refs in League Two this year - gave seven or eight throws the wrong way and two obvious corners given as goal kicks. Basics that (@parkinsonross)
Thought Carlisle were decent, particularly second half, and very little between the sides. Some really top drawer balls in from Armer and Moxon but just couldn't quite get on the end of them. Thought McCalmont & Huntington both had good games. Let's hope missed chances don't cost us. (@BackoSkiddaw)
Better team second half, got to be better in front of goal, but overall can’t fault the effort the lads put in, and more optimistic now even at 1-0 down than I was before a ball has been kicked. (@joeleigh95)
Still in the tie and showed what we can do second half. Nothing to fear in the second leg apart from League Two officials (@martyn_haworth)
We deserved to get something out of that. Lack of confidence in the final third stemming from firing blanks in the last few weeks of the season showed. Huntington, Moxon and McCalmont the pick of the bunch. Excellent team defending, just need to find those scoring boots again ('Galaspookysplit)
Nervy first half, much better second half. Has to start to on Saturday with the 11 that finished, with the exception of Guy back in for Charters (who was excellent when he came on) Referee (and the other officials in fairness) were absolutely awful (@PeteMcCormick6)
We were the better team. Nothing in that Bradford team to fear. We need to take the game to them at home and get the crowd right behind us. (@scholes_peter)
Obviously not the result that we wanted, but we limited to one goal. Thought that particularly second half we were better team - just need some calmer, more deliberate choices. Today we were either too slow or too hectic on key passes. Hunts and Charters were excellent. Lots of positives. (@EarnThtDanegeld)
Utter rubbish from the officials yet again. Apparently Andy Cook can lead with his elbows but Joe Garner isn't allowed to jump for a 50/50. Better team by far, need to slaughter these chickens on Saturday. (@buzzisbackCUFC)
Lots of positives to take away, but seriously don't think the refs can get much worse at this level, I know it's not an easy job but some of those decisions were embarrassing (@cufccraig1983)
Tiny margins. We switched off for their goal after the ref gave them an extra 15 yards to punt it longer. And Edmondson missed a sitter. Generally in control but, for the most part, lacked a greater threat (@DaveGMcM)
We can’t start with Patrick and Garner, got to go all out with Dennis and Edmo with Gibbo as right wing-back. (@Mawsontom)
Thought we were the better team after the goal but need to start like that. Definitely able to overturn that result, just need to take our chances, enough of them to cancel out whatever poor officials we end up with (@jimmydee78)
Horrendous from the officials, lot of positives to take from the game. I do believe Carlisle can beat them at BP, and convincingly at that! Up the Blues (@danielmorris991)
They’re nothing special. We should turn that around at home. If we can’t beat them at BP on Saturday we’ve no chance in League One. (@SAMaccaEsq)
Got to take your chances as they come along. They looked more nervous than us after the goal but we lacked a cutting edge. (@CallumW52815815)
We have to chase this, I think that's huge motivation. In an odd way I think it’s better than playing with a 1-0 lead. We need three goals at BP I think. Up the Blues. (@canoeblue)
Come away positive. Just got to go for it at BP. Nothing to fear (@Paddockgirlie)
We are still in this. We look the better team. Just need composure (@AndyMortonPark)
Nervy 20 mins then we pretty much controlled the game and with a bit more composure or maybe a little bit of luck we certainly could have won. But definitely should have got a draw. We competed well on the grass and on the terraces. Roll on Saturday - we can win it I’ve no doubts (@IanWsanderson)
We played 12 men, just like the league game there! JK and Edmo to start next game for me. (@fatflags)
Disappointing not to score. Draw maybe the fair result. But we can and probably will do em at BP. We are due some goals. (@Blencath007)
Good result. We are a much better footballing side than them and a bit of luck plus the home crowd should see us through next Saturday. (@NotInSeddon)
Referee was a homer. Apart from a nervy ten and their goal it was us all the way. Bring on Saturday and a fair referee. (@LEEROTHERHAM)
Ref awful but it’s a very winnable return leg (@keithelliott94)
After conceding I was worried, but we saw the first half out and we were the better team second half. Saying that, decent performances won’t be enough, unless we start converting our chances. Up The Blues! (@dubhead77)
Anybody seen the game stats...nothing between them but the goal. Sounded all action. Shame about the ref again, especially first half. Who books a player seven mins in? Bring on Saturday! (@LindaNi121202)
Given the action was at the other side or end of the pitch from me, I’m going to leave it to my mate @YeovilVoter: "I've never seen a team play so well right up to about 30 yards from goal and then suddenly forget how to play football. How on earth are you behind in this tie?” (@JHallHDI)
