Cumbrian rising star James Trafford is being linked with a big-money Premier League move.
Reports have linked the Manchester City goalkeeper – currently on loan with Bolton Wanderers – with newly-promoted top-flight club Burnley.
England Under-21 keeper Trafford, from Greysouthen, has impressed in his season-long loan with Bolton, who are currently involved in the League One play-offs.
A return to the Trotters is unlikely next season as the next stage of Trafford’s development prepares to unfold.
He has come through the ranks at City since leaving Carlisle United’s academy aged 12.
Football Insider have reported that Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is an admirer of the 20-year-old, and watched Trafford in action for Bolton in their 1-1 draw with Barnsley in their League One play-off semi-final first leg on Saturday.
The second leg at Oakwell is on Friday night.
Trafford has previously been linked with Rangers, while Bolton boss Ian Evatt said earlier this season that the promising Cumbrian was in line to become second-choice at Man City next season.
Football Insider claim a £15m fee could secure Trafford permanently, while Burnley could also explore a loan deal.
A permanent move could be of benefit to Carlisle through the terms of the keeper’s move from United to Man City.
