A special raffle is being launched in support of former Carlisle United captain Nick Anderton as he fights cancer.
And a hospice in Cumbria will also benefit from the fundraising initiative.
Up for grabs in the raffle is the pair of boots Anderton wore when scoring his first senior goal.
It came for Barrow in their 4-0 home win against Eastleigh on October 29, 2016.
The green Adidas boots are being made available in a special ‘Nick’s Raffle’ by the Bluebirds’ Trust in Barrow, who regularly run ‘Russ’s Raffle’.
Proceeds will be split between 27-year-old Anderton, who recently announced his retirement, and St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston.
The Bluebirds Trust, in announcing the raffle, said: “We are delighted to be running this very special “Nick’s Raffle” offering you the chance to win a very special pair of boots, raising money for two very good causes.
“The boots are the pair worn by Nick when he scored his first ever senior goal and his one and only goal for Barrow AFC, in the 4-0 home victory against Eastleigh on the 29th October 2016.
“You can watch the goal on Youtube (BELOW) and then get your entry in the raffle at Nick’s Raffle.
“After beginning his career with Preston North End and initially joining Barrow on loan, Nick made 85 appearances in his 3 spells with Barrow before going on to Blackpool, Accrington, Carlisle and Bristol Rovers – making 121 Football League appearances and playing a key role in Rovers amazing unbeaten run in the second half of the 2021/22 season to see them win promotion to League One.
“Almost a year ago, Nick was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, and he retired in Apil aged just 26.
“All profits will be split equally between Nick and St Mary’s Hospice and the draw will take place on Saturday 17th June 2023.
“Thanks for your support as always.”
