Carlisle United Football Club can confirm that striker Kristian Dennis has turned down the offer of a new deal and will be moving on from the club in the summer.

Dennis, 33, joined United from St Mirren in January 2022 and scored 23 goals in his 65 appearances.

Manager Paul Simpson said: "We offered Denno a one-year contract with a second-year extension based on appearances, but he has chosen the security of a two-year deal.

"He played a big part in our success last season and we'd like to wish him all the best as he moves on to his new club."

Dennis has signed with Tranmere Rovers on a two-year deal and will join the club on July 1, 2023. In an interview posted on the club's Twitter account, he said: "Every time I've played here, I've enjoyed it.

"There seems to be a good fanbase who are passionate and get behind the team. Hopefully, I can score goals for Tranmere and get us up the league."

He joined Carlisle United back in January 2022, the 2022-23 season saw Dennis score twenty league goals.

His performance over the season helped United to reach the playoffs and he has since been awarded the  Players' Player of the Year at the end-of-season awards ceremony.

During Carlisle's final playoff game against Stockport County at Wembley last weekend, Dennis was used as a substitute and scored his penalty during the shoot-out.

United went on to victory defeating Stockport and securing a place in League 1 next season.
