Carlisle United have added another pre-season friendly to their calendar – a trip to Chorley.
The Blues will take on the National League North side – who are managed by former United striker Andy Preece – on Tuesday, July 25.
The game at Victory Park, which will kick off at 7.30pm, is a sixth pre-season game for Paul Simpson’s side ahead of the 2023/24 season.
It joins games against Annan Athletic, Gretna 2008, Workington Reds, Newcastle United’s Under-21s and Dundee United as Carlisle build up to their return to League One.
Chorley boss Preece played under Simpson in his time at Brunton Park from 2003-5, in Division Three and the Conference.
The former frontman was an influential part in United’s initial turnaround under the Cumbrian manager.
Chorley narrowly missed out on the National League North play-offs last season after finishing 12th – just two points below seventh in a tightly-packed table.
Preece, 56, has been in charge at the Lancashire club since May 2022 having initially joined as director of football.
Carlisle’s first friendly comes against Peter Murphy’s Annan on Friday, July 7. The Blues are back in pre-season training this Wednesday.
