BORDER City Centurions have made history in the inaugural National Flag Football League (NFFL) season.
The Carlisle-based club, which plays a non-contact version of American Football, have 're-wrote the record books for American Football in Cumbria and South West Scotland' in their inaugural season on the national league stage.
Flag Football, which is billed as 'one of the fastest growing sports in both Europe and the Americas', could also be set for Olympic inclusion after the International Olympic Committee cleared it for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The Border City team are now guaranteed a positive finishing position for their rookie season in the NFFL's Division One following a hattrick of wins on their latest matchday, in Cheshire on Saturday, June 24.
Game one saw the Cents record a 27-20 victory over the Lancashire Bombers, whilst game two saw the local side run out 6-34 winners against the Sting Rays.
Game three saw the Cents most dominant performance, with a crushing 40-0 victory over Chorley with 'brilliant touchdowns' from wide-outs Niall Clifford and Jed Richardson being the highlight of the game.
The Centurions are now 'now fully locked onto possibly even clinching a playoff berth.'
