Carlisle United’s supporters’ trust are setting their sights on breaking the 1,000 barrier after a significant increase in membership.
CUOSC have raised their numbers to 803 in recent months.
That is around double the membership figure of January 2022 – the month the Unitor Fortior group launched with the aim of revitalising the trust.
That was followed by the election of a number of UF figures at last year’s AGM.
And since that election a year ago, when membership was 585, things have continued to grow.
Trust figures are now targeting the four-figure mark with vice-chair Dan MacLennan welcoming the increase in membership.
“It’s great to see fans coming on board in such good numbers,” he said.
“Having doubled our membership in approximately 18 months, we now want to reach four figures next.”
A 1,000-strong membership was one of the main targets set out by Unita Fortior when they launched their movement in January last year.
MacLennan plus fellow fans Matt Spooner, Chris Armstrong, Dave Noble and Kieron Bulman were all elected to the CUOSC board, having been part of UF’s launch group.
Unita Fortior subsequently mothballed its work and profile after the influx of members to CUOSC.
They joined existing board members in their attempt to build and modernise aspects of the trust.
“As a shareholder in the club [CUOSC have 25.4 per cent voting rights in CUFC Holdings] we are your voice on the board through our reps, and our aim is to ensure the club understands the views of the fanbase around issues,” added MacLennan.
“We also have ticket priority and a 10 per cent discount in the club shop – handy if you can’t commit to a season ticket!
“Our updated membership system has made it far easier to join and/or renew, with simple modern payment options that take no time at all. If you’ve never joined before, or kept a distance, we encourage you to come and be a part of what is undoubtedly an exciting time for our football club.”
