WORKINGTON Town boss Anthony Murray has said this weekends game against Rochdale is all to play for, with both sides hoping to secure their places in the play offs.
Town take on Rochdale Hornets at Derwent Park this weekend for what the Head Coach promises should be a great game of rugby league.
The blue and white army will be looking to consolidate their position in the League One playoffs, while Rochdale are set to keep their hopes of competing alive.
Anthony Murray said: “It’s going to be another tough game; Rochdale currently find themselves just outside the play offs and probably desperately need to win to keep their play offs aspirations alive really with only six games remaining.
“But in turn, we want to cement our place in the playoffs as well and as high up as we can, it’s equally as important to us.
“I think fans are going to be treated to an awesome game of rugby, Rochdale like to play with some decent shape, they’ve got some experience in their full backs and some quality half backs and some decent young forwards, they are a good team, so I am anticipating a really tough game.”
“We have had a really good season up to now, we are winning more games than what we are losing, and I think the team has really gelled over the second part of the season.”
Despite a difficult run of injuries, the club have worked hard to build a strong 26 man squad throughout the season Caine Barnes and Tom Curwen remain injured long term with Grant Reid waiting for results on a neck injury. Earl Hurst is also injured with a torn bicep with Carl Forber also facing long term injury for a period this season.
The Head Coach said: “We’ve done it rough ourselves with injuries really, we haven’t shouted it from the roof tops. What we have done is backed the 26-man squad that we have got.
“I said right from day one to the players that we recruited, that at some point through the season they would all play and all get a run of games and it’s up to them to make sure they play well, enjoy the experience, and enjoy the rugby, and that’s certainly what they have done.
“I’m delighted for the squad really and the recruitment process that we followed.”
The two sides will compete at Derwent Park this Sunday, July 9 with kick off from 3pm.
