Former Carlisle United winger Lewis Bell has rejoined former loan club Gretna 2008.
Bell, who was released by the Cumbrians at the end of last season, has returned across the border to sign for the Lowland League club.
The 20-year-old had a trial with Annan Athletic earlier in pre-season but has now committed to Bryan Gilfillan's Raydale Park side for the 2023/24 campaign.
Gretna say they have secured the signature of the United youth product in spite of "interest from clubs in higher divisions."
"There's been a lot of work put in to get Lewis into the club," manager Gilfillan said in a Gretna statement.
"To get him is really pleasing."
Bell faced Carlisle with Annan last Friday before turning out for Gretna against the Blues in another friendly on Tuesday.
"He's quiet but he's mixing really well with the lads," added Gilfillan.
"We're all here to help Lewis develop as a player and look after him and his young family.
"He's a great lad that just wants to play every minute of every game.
"He's certainly going to get the fans off their seats with his direct approach."
Bell scored five goals in 31 appearances for Gretna last season.
He came through United's academy and progressed to the professional ranks, making five first-team appearances before his departure in May.
Bell is a second signing in quick succession for Gretna, who yesterday brought in Queen of the South goalkeeper Charlie Cowie on a season-long loan.
Gretna take on Hibernian in a friendly next Monday at Raydale Park.
