WE shared the news that a golf club in Carlisle has been recognised as the best of its kind this year.
Stony Holme Golf Club received the award for this year from the industry magazine Your Golfer.
The award was titled Municipal Golf Course of the Year 2023.

Gary Edwards, golf development officer at the club, was chuffed to bits to receive the award, and explained they put in an advert in the Yorkshire Golfer who came up to play the course.
It then received the award from Your Golfer.
A web user said: "Stony Holme is easily the best council-run course I've come across so well worth the recognition," while another said: "Well done good course."
The course spans 5,800 yards and is easily accessible, right in the heart of Carlisle City, with adjacent free parking. Stony Holme is a parkland course par 69, surrounded by three rivers.
It presents a challenge for both beginners and experienced golfers alike with tree-lined fairways and rivers.
The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant and is available to hire for events and functions.
