Carlisle United are yet to respond to reports that Blackpool have made an offer for star midfielder Owen Moxon.
Sky Sports News tonight claimed that the Seasiders have had a £250,000 bid for Moxon turned down.
United could not be reached for comment tonight.
The report is the first suggestion of a bid this summer for the Denton Holme star, who was the Cumbrians' player of the season in 2022/23.
His outstanding performances in Paul Simpson's promotion-winning side last season earned Moxon widespread plaudits - and fears among fans that he could be targeted by bigger clubs.
Blackpool, though, will be playing in the same division as United next season after their relegation from the Championship.
The reported interest in the former Annan Athletic man comes less than two weeks before the start of the new League One season.
Moxon returned to action for Carlisle on Saturday against Newcastle United's Under-21s at Gateshead after a minor hip injury, with the Blues back in pre-season action at Chorley on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old is under contract at Brunton Park until next summer.
Carlisle manager Simpson, meanwhile, has revealed that the Blues have missed out on one of their recent transfer targets.
But he is hoping for better news this week on other players he is pursuing.
“I had some disappointing news last night, we’ve missed out on a player I was looking to bring in,” Simpson told United's website.
“There are things which we’ll continue to work on this week with other players we’re trying to bring in.
“I have two areas of the pitch which need strengthening and I hope we’ll get some news this week on that."
Simpson last week said United had made an offer for a player, and today said that situation was "bubbling away", along with discussions over three potential loan signings.
Carlisle today clinched the return of Nottingham Forest loanee Fin Back as their seventh summer recruit.
