Carlisle United fans gave us their reaction on Twitter following the opening-day 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town.
Here are some of their views.
A physical encounter. A big learning curve ahead. Hopefully, we will learn quickly and get up to the pace of League One. Also, we need to be more clinical in front of goal. Chances missed against better teams will prove costly. (@BruceVander)
Decent enough. We had the chance to win it with Garner’s header. We won’t be rolling over anyone in League One, so it’s vital we take our chances when they come along. (@dubhead77)
Overall, a good result. There were good performances - Gibson in particular stood out. It's clear that we need more upfront, but if Plange can continue to adapt like he did over the first half, there could be a player there. The less said about the officials, the better - terrible. (@EarnThtDanegeld)
An obvious step up in standard of opponent which we were equal to. Fair result as could’ve gone either way. All the new players looked good - real effort from Plange. Gibson especially upped his game. Only concern lack of pace at the back. Ref- X. Added time needs revising by EFL (@tim_martland)
The step up was there to be seen but I thought we were up for and matched it, especially in the first half. Their League One experience showed in the second half but overall a great effort by our team. Moxon, Gibson and Mells going to be key this season. (@Rob_burn5)
Good. Enough said about the awful officiating. We need to get used to 100 mins plus games being the norm though. I think new players all look assets. Varying fitness though and need to play together and gel. Happy overall (@AndyMortonPark)
Picked up the pace well, Gibson excellent, little shaky at the back at times, overall good though. Odd to leave Edmo out but Plange ok and grew into it as the first half went on. Standard of officials remains familiar mind. (@parkinsonross)
Impressed. We've improved from last year as a team and individually too. Really impressed with Gibson. Confident and optimistic even more for the season after that (@In5ertHandle)
We missed Edmondson today, but played well. Thought we should have won it but can’t complain about the point. That added on time at the end was a joke. Beautiful free-kick from Mox. That’s more £££ on his value! Ref woeful. Carlisle should have had two pens! (@fish_blues)
Lack of pace, creativity and threat up front more glaring than ever. Strikers brought in seem just to be to fill out squad rather than offering anything. Moxon mostly invisible apart from his goal. Mellish/Back/Gibson good. Excuse the pessimism but could be a long season based on today (@PeteMcCormick6)
Excellent point, terrible from "the fans" that threw items onto the pitch (@MikeReid13)
Officials were criminally bad. We played very well in patches, still switch off at crucial times. (@johnstone_mikey)
Solid point. Shown we can handle League One with some good individual performances. Brill goal by Mox, Gibson was great too. Unfortunately I feel Garner goes down way too easy. Softly gave up an attacking opportunity and got nothing. Needs to stay on his feet if he's to keep playing (@mikebcarlisle)
Solid point. Game pretty even, and could have gone either way. Nice to get off the mark. (@dnm_thegoose)
Good point, and good to see the standard of refereeing has improved! Stonewall pen second half (@MIKEYPATT)
I'll take the point that Tomas Holy saved with the foul on the man and save right at the end! The Blues are staying up! (@Northernmunkey)
Why did Simmo not take Guy of at half-time? He could hardly walk never mind run. I feel sorry for Harris he's been our best midfield player in preseason (@GeoffRo39583097)
Not the best performance but not the worst. Plenty to build on. A good point, didn’t do enough to win it (@Taliesinii)
Decent first game, don’t want to get beat first game of the season. Solid performances but can see why Simmo would like another forward. Less said about the officials the better! (@Matthew_2693)
Am loath to criticise Simmo, but perplexed by that starting line up - no recognised CF and a loanee leading the line - sorry you got it wrong, Fleetwood were there for the taking (@thegaffa)
Good point, we carved out some good chances and with more luck could have had a couple more goals. The players gave their all and the new additions did well. Mid-table this season will please me. (@peterjo91525330)
Pretty even game all in all, thought the crowd looked amazing and made themselves heard, great ovation at 3 o'clock! As said the ref was all over the place, the Paddock lino saw nothing...and the 4th official put up with Scott Brown for too long before blabbing on him to the ref (@LindaNi121202)
As predicted! Good point from the first fixture. (@NotInSeddon)
Good performance and a decent result. No one dipped below a 7/10. We'll need 9/10s against some of the teams in this league but a solid start. Especially after listening to an hour of Port Vale fans on @BBCStokeSport Praise & Grumble... (@1StevieKilner)
