Carlisle United’s Max Kilsby got his latest Annan Athletic outing in their derby defeat to Queen of the South.
The on-loan Blues defender was in Peter Murphy’s line-up as they took on Queens at Palmerston Park.
Kilsby, 19, played the full game as Annan took an early lead only to be overhauled by the Doonhamers.
An Efe Ambrose own-goal in the sixth minute gave Murphy’s side the perfect start.
But their lead was wiped out on the hour mark by Lee Connelly, before ex-Carlisle striker Gavin Reilly gave the hosts the lead.
Harvey Walker then clinched a 3-1 win for Queens – who also included former Blues midfielder Josh Todd – leaving newly-promoted Annan still to pick up their first point in Scottish League One.
The Galabank side remain without sidelined Tommy Goss, last season’s top scorer.
As well as Reilly, other ex-Blues were in the thick of the weekend action.
There was a first Tranmere Rovers goal for Kristian Dennis following his summer move from United.
But it proved a consolation as the Wirral side went down 4-3 at home to Salford City.
Dennis, on his second league start, scored in the 36th minute to put Tranmere 2-1 ahead, but a Callum Hendry hat-trick was decisive for Salford.
In League One, Charlie Wyke was on target twice as Wigan Athletic swept aside Bolton Wanderers.
The former Blues man took his tally to five for the season, Stephen Humphrys also netting twice in a 4-0 win at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
Championship action saw Jerry Yates on target again for Swansea City in their 1-1 draw with Coventry City in south Wales.
In the National League, Jack Bridge scored for Southend United but could not prevent them from losing 3-2 at home to Hartlepool United.
Mark Beck was also among the goals in non-league’s top tier, the frontman scoring Solihull Moors’ third in their 3-0 victory over Dorking Wanderers.
In National League North, Michael Liddle hit the winner for Blyth Spartans against Hereford, while in the Northern Premier League Premier division there was a consolation goal by Nathan Thomas in Marske United’s 3-1 defeat at Ashton United.
Connor Simpson was on target in the same division in Whitby Town’s 3-1 win at Marine, while Liam Noble netted one of Morpeth Town’s goals in a 3-3 draw against Matlock Town.
