Carlisle United loanee Max Kilsby helped Annan Athletic to an historic first win in Scottish League One.
The Blues defender played the full game as Peter Murphy’s side came from behind against Edinburgh City in memorable style.
Kilsby, 19, was given his fifth appearance since returning to Galabank on a half-season loan, as Annan fell two goals adrift thanks to strikes from Kieran Offord and Innes Murray.
But Dominic Docherty scored either side of half-time to bring Annan right back into the contest – before fit-again striker Tommy Goss came off the bench to hit a late winner.
The 3-2 triumph saw Annan pick up their first points of the league season after last term’s promotion.
Next for Kilsby and Annan is a trip to Kelty Hearts next weekend.
A number of ex-Blues were in the thick of the weekend action, meanwhile.
There was a first Premier League start of the season for Jarrad Branthwaite at Everton.
The Wigton star was called into the side by Sean Dyche for their home clash with Wolves.
It was 21-year-old Branthwaite’s first outing for the Toffees since May 2022.
He played the full game – in front of fellow ex-Blue Jordan Pickford in goal – and earned praise from several quarters despite Sasa Kalajdic’s late goal sending Everton to a third straight league defeat.
In the Championship, there was a goal for Nakhi Wells as Bristol City earned a 1-1 draw at Hull City.
In League Two, meanwhile, Omari Patrick got his third goal of the season for Sutton United.
But his 53rd-minute opener proved a consolation in the end as Newport County hit back to win 3-1 at Rodney Parade.
In the National League, an eventful 2-2 draw between Rochdale and Bromley saw a red card for Dale’s ex-Blues midfielder Adam Clayton.
The experienced Clayton was dismissed for bringing down a visiting player who was running through on goal.
In the Northern Premier League Premier Division, two goals from David Symington handed Workington Reds a 2-1 home win over Stafford Rangers.
Another ex-Blue on target in the division was Lewis Alessandra, who netted in Hyde United’s 3-1 win over Worksop Town.
In Northern Premier League East, former Blues youth frontman Mason Hardy hit the winner for Ashington in their 2-1 victory at Stockbridge Park Steels.
And in the FA Vase, ex-United youth player Jay Kelly was among the scorers in Carlisle City's 5-3 win over Garstang.
