Two former Carlisle United loan frontmen look set for moves to League One before the transfer deadline.
John-Kymani Gordon has been linked with a switch to Cambridge United, while Joshua Kayode is tipped to join Barnsley.
Crystal Palace frontman Gordon, who was part of United's promotion-winning squad in the second half of last season, has been on the bench for the Eagles early in the Premier League season.
But a loan move has always been anticipated for the pacy frontman and the Abbey Stadium is his likely destination according to reports.
Gordon had been linked with Bradford City, while Carlisle boss Paul Simpson, early in pre-season, had not ruled out an attempt to bring the 20-year-old back to Brunton Park.
The Cumbrians, though, instead brought in Gordon's Palace team-mate Luke Plange on the eve of the League One season, with Simpson later saying he was seeking a No9 rather than a player of Gordon's particular traits.
And it now seems that Cambridge, who sit ninth in the early League One table, are in the frame to add Gordon to their attack, according to reporter Alan Nixon.
Gordon made 17 appearances for Carlisle last season, scoring twice, and started in the League Two play-off final against Stockport County at Wembley.
Kayode, meanwhile, is tipped to join Barnsley from Rotherham United, with the Millers making a move for Exeter City's Sam Nombe.
The Barnsley Chronicle report that a deal for the ex-Blues loanee is "close" - although there is said to be other interest the striker, with the Rotherham Advertiser even linking Kayode with a possible Carlisle return.
Kayode, 23, made 41 appearances for United in two loan spells from 2020-21, scoring 11 goals.
