The well-earned 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town saw Paul Simpson's side prevail at the sixth time of asking in the 2023/24 campaign.
A Tom Bayliss own goal and a late Joe Garner effort saw them up and running in the third tier.
It was Carlisle's first win at this level since their 1-0 win over Swindon Town back in April 5, 2014.
Most of the 7,395 crowd enjoyed the winning moment as ref Ben Toner's final whistle signalled United's landmark result.
