THE Whitehaven RL board of directors has issued a warning to fans following some fans using discriminatory language.
The incident itself occurred during Whitehaven's game against Swinton Lions on Sunday, September 17.
A number of West Cumbrians made the trip down to Swinton to watch their club as they played their penultimate game of the season.
On social media, the club said that a small group of fans had been heard using 'discriminatory language' towards officials during the game.
A spokesperson said: "The Whitehaven Board of Directors have received a concern from a travelling fan who attended the Swinton match on Sunday.
"A small minority of fans choose to use discriminatory language towards the officials, in the second half of the game.
"As a club, we have to address this as it has no part in our game.
"The BOD would like to remind supporters that discrimination in any form is unacceptable and we will be making inquiries to find those responsible and deal appropriately."
Whitehaven lost the game 21-20 to Swinton Lions.
They now look ahead to facing off against Toulouse this Saturday, September 23, concluding the 2023 season.
