Cumbrian Cath O’Donnell will win her latest England cap when the Red Roses take on Canada this weekend.
The Maryport lock has been named in Louis Deacon’s starting XV for the international clash at Exeter.
It will be a 28th outing for England for the Carlisle-born star, who plays club rugby for Loughborough Lightning.
It is England’s first outing since their victorious Six Nations decider against France in April, while they will face Canada for the first time since defeating them in the World Cup semi-final last year.
O’Donnell continues to be rewarded for her impressive club form and England are looking forward to Saturday’s challenge.
Interim head coach Deacon said: “We have had a very positive pre-season and we are pleased with the progress we have made as a Red Roses group, on and off the field.
“This match is the beginning of a new journey together as a squad, against a Canada side with a lot of world-class attributes.
“Sandy Park is always a great venue to play at and the fans have been incredible every time we have been down there. Everyone is relishing the opportunity that awaits and can’t wait to take to the field on Saturday.”
Kick-off is 2.30pm and the game at Sandy Park is being streamed live on the England Rugby YouTube and Facebook channels.
O’Donnell’s fellow Cumbrian, Abbie Ward, has been appointed co-captain of Bristol Bears Women.
The Keswick player will share the role with Amber Reed.
Ward, 30, will return to action in the forthcoming season following the birth of her first child.
It will be the third successive season that the Cumbrian will lead the club who are preparing for the inaugural Allianz PWR campaign.
Head coach Dave Ward said: “Both Abbie and Amber are world-class players and leaders in their own right, but the way in which they complement each other, as well as within the group, means we can look to take the squad to the next level.”
