Carlisle United’s Kai Nugent scored the first goal of his loan spell with Annan Athletic on Saturday.
The teenager found the net after coming off the bench in the second half of the Scottish League One clash with Cove Rangers.
Nugent’s strike almost helped Annan to a fightback but they went down to a 3-2 defeat at Balmoral Stadium.
Cove led 2-0 at the break with boss Peter Murphy withdrawing Nugent’s fellow Blues loanee, defender Max Kilsby, at half-time.
A third home goal looked to put Annan out of reach but, after Nugent replaced James Graham in the 66th minute, Michael Garrity pulled one back and then the Blues youngster struck.
The defeat leaves Annan ninth in Scotland’s third tier.

In the Championship, Jerry Yates was on target in Swansea City’s 3-1 win at Plymouth Argyle.
In League One, Jack Marriott struck Fleetwood Town’s consolation in their 4-1 home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
Aaron Pressley, son of ex-Carlisle boss Steven, was Stevenage’s matchwinner as they defeated Wigan Athletic 1-0.
League Two saw Omari Patrick claim his fifth goal of the season (below) with a free-kick as Sutton United thrashed Walsall 4-0. Joe Riley scored an own goal as Sutton moved off the bottom of the table.
Keith Millen enjoyed victory in his first game as interim manager of Gillingham, who saw off MK Dons 2-1 at Priestfield.
In the National League, a 3-0 defeat at Oxford City proved the end of Adam Murray's reign at AFC Fylde. Director of football Chris Beech is in caretaker charge after Murray's sacking.
In National League South, there was a goal for Owen Windsor but his Chippenham Town side lost 4-1 at home to Dartford.
The FA Trophy third qualifying round saw a Workington Reds debut for Jamie Devitt as a 77th minute substitute and a goal for Steven Rigg as Danny Grainger’s side were beaten 3-1 at home by Hyde United.
Mark Cullen hit the opener for Bamber Bridge in their 2-0 win at Bootle.
In the Welsh Premier League, Brad Young was on target twice for The New Saints in their 4-1 win at Penybont.
