Paul Simpson has called on Carlisle United to back up their superb efforts at Bolton when Leyton Orient visit this weekend.
And the Blues manager wants his side to take advantage of the fact several other League One sides are not in action.
United’s home clash with the Os is one of just five games in the division on Saturday.
It could give the Cumbrians the opportunity to continue climbing the table.
Simpson said only by doing things to the maximum again can United make the most of their memorable win over Bolton.
“Next weekend when we’re at home against Orient there are a lot of teams who won’t be playing, the same as it was for the last international weekend,” said Simpson.
“There maybe won’t be 20-odd thousand there. I’m sure there’ll be a good crowd, I’d like to think that everybody who came [to Bolton to back us] will be there, but when it’s not the hype that goes with playing a team at the top of the table it can feel different.
“We found it tough against Orient last season, so we have to do it properly.
“If we can do it right at home then it makes this an even bigger three points.”
While United are in EFL Trophy action tonight, Simpson will use the game against Nottingham Forest Under-21s to give some of his squad players a chance.
Carlisle’s boss will then bring back his front line players to take on an Os side who did the double over United last term on their way to the League Two title.
It will also be another clash with the Londoners’ boss Richie Wellens, who was embroiled in exchanges with the Paddock last season and claimed coins had been thrown at him.
Orient are currently 16th, three points above the Blues.
“If we do it properly, we’ll have a great opportunity to be in a really good position,” added Simpson.
Carlisle’s boss, meanwhile, feels his team are adapting well to the new system he has introduced.
In the last two games Simpson has reverted to a back four while Jordan Gibson and Sean Maguire have moved into wide positions, Joe Garner recalled up front and Alfie McCalmont also back into midfield.
“The players have a good understanding of the shape we want to play,” said the manager.
“The wide players are joining in when they can, the midfielders are getting forward as well, and they’re getting shots off from the edge of the box.”
