A CARLISLE trampoline club established itself as one of the best in the region with a raft of victories at a Championship event earlier this month.
On October 7 and October 8, Carlisle Trampoline Club played host to the North of England Championships at the Sands Centre.
The North of England Championships is an annual competition that invites all competitive trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) clubs within the North region to compete for their chance to be crowned the North of England champion and Club champions.
In DMT, participants perform acrobatic skills on an apparatus smaller than a regular competition trampoline. The apparatus has both an angled section and a flat section.
This year, 27 DMT gymnasts and 36 trampoline gymnasts from Carlisle TC competed. For 10 of these gymnasts, it was their very first competition.
Many from Carlisle acheived podium positions.
Within these podium positions, two gymnasts Jemma Salkeld and Emily Trotter became The North of England Ladies Trampoline Synchro champions for a second year running.
In the individual events, Michael Sweeney took the bronze medal in the Men's Trampoline event and Emily Trotter became the North of England Ladies Champion 2023, the first female from Carlisle to win this title since records began in 1973.
Emily's success is no surprise, given she was recently selected to represent Team GB at a World Championships in November.
In the region's club champions for trampoline, Carlisle Trampoline Club achieved second place.
In DMT, Carlisle were crowned The North of England DMT club champions.
A spokesperson for Carlisle TC said: "Everyone at the club is so proud of each and every gymnast who competed for us during the weekend.
"We would also like to say a massive thank you to all our parents who volunteered their time to transport equipment, help set up, pack away, fundraise, and be officials throughout the weekend.
"The weekend was a success because of the team effort put in by all."
