Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson says Joshua Kayode’s return to the training ground has been put back.
The striker has been told he needs more time before stepping up his return from shoulder surgery.
Simpson, though, says the delay is not expected to impact on the loan man’s comeback in terms of first-team action.
Offering an update on Kayode’s rehabilitation, Blues manager Simpson said: “He’s just been for what I think was his two week check-up.
“They’ve now said he’s got to have an extra couple of weeks of being off the grass from non-contact.
“Whereas we thought he might be coming in by the end of this month, it’s probably not looking likely, [so it should be] beginning of November.
“We don’t think it’s affecting the return to play date, we think that’s still the same.
“So we’re just waiting to see. It’s no change, we’re still in the hands of Rotherham’s medical people as to what they decide because he’s their player.”
Kayode injured his shoulder on the first outing of his loan spell, against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy, and played through the pain against Stevenage in the following league game with the extent of the injury not clear at the point.
But further examinations showed Kayode had suffered damage that required an operation.
The procedure was successful and Simpson expects the 23-year-old back in action in December.
Rotherham boss Matt Taylor this week confirmed that Kayode would be returning to the Blues soon.
“He'll do the majority of his rehab at Carlisle," the Millers manager told the Rotherham Advertised.
“It's the best thing to do because he's still got a big part to play for them.
“At least it's happened early on rather than in January like last season when he couldn't play again. He's still got a big chunk of the campaign left to get game-time.”
Simpson, meanwhile, said Dylan McGeouch (calf), Paul Huntington (calf) and Taylor Charters (hamstring) are making progress from their respective injuries.
“The dates haven’t changed, we’re still looking at, I think, end of October for Hunts and Dylan, end of November for Taylor, but they’re all progressing really well.
“Dylan’s been out on the grass this week – Hunts and Taylor are not – and we’re just going to keep building him up.
“I think next week will probably be too early for him in the [Central League Cup reserve game against Blackpool] at Penrith, but we’ll see how it goes over the next few days.”
United's manager reported no new injury concerns ahead of this weekend's home clash with Leyton Orient, meanwhile.
