Carlisle United are soon set to confirm the arrival of a new coach.
Manager Paul Simpson says the club have chosen a candidate to take up the role of strength and conditioning coach.
Interviews have been held in recent weeks and the individual is likely to begin at Brunton Park later this month.
United were recruiting for the role ahead of the departure of Jamie Roper.
The new member of staff will join a department which also recently saw the arrival of Simpson’s son Jake as head of performance.
“It’s very close,” said Simpson on the S&C coach situation.
“We’ve chosen the person, he’s accepted the role but I don’t know where we’re at with it, whether his notice has gone in, when the start date is.
“I knew on Monday we’d made the offer to the guy, he wants to come but he’s in a job so I can’t really say who it is yet.
“But I’d like to think over the next couple of weeks that will be resolved and somebody will come in.”
Simpson said United had received applications from all over the country and even other countries such as Greece, the USA and Australia.
Carlisle’s boss recently said he wanted to “strengthen that department because I want to make sure we’re fit enough to be able to deal with League One football, we are strong enough to deal with it, and also resilient enough to make sure we recover properly after games.”
Simpson junior joined from Stockport County in September.
