Cumbrian duo James Trafford and Jarrad Branthwaite both earned their latest England Under-21 caps as the young Lions lost their long unbeaten run.
They both started for Lee Carsley's side as England lost 3-2 to Ukraine in their latest European Championships qualifier.
For Greysouthen goalkeeper Trafford it was a 14th U21 outing while Wigton defender Branthwaite won his third cap.
Both played the full game, but it was in a losing cause as the game in Slovakia went their opponents' way late on.
Ukraine took control in the first half and led 2-0 at the break through goals from Nazar Voloshyn and Oleh Ocheretko, the latter deceiving Trafford with a free-kick.
England fought back and levelled thanks to goals from Noni Madueke and Charlie Cresswell.
But in the fourth added minute Illia Kvasnytsya fired past Burnley No1 Trafford for the winner.
It was a first defeat for England in more than a year, and only a second loss in 20 games for Carsley's European Champions.
Liam Delap, son of ex-Carlisle United star Rory, was a second half substitute as England lost their third qualifying game, having beaten Luxembourg and Serbia in their previous outings.
