Flag American Football has been approved for the 2028 LA Olympics, much to the excitement of local team Border City Centurions.
The Carlisle-based squad exploded onto the UK scene this year.
An unprecedented streak sent them to the British National Finals in Manchester last month.
The team's high standard has grabbed the attention of Team GB coaches, with trial discussions ongoing.
As a result, the region has become a prime scouting location for Olympic-ready athletes.
Flag is a non-contact, high-skill format of American Football, experiencing global growth in the past decade.
Already embraced by the NFL and now the IOC, the game has taken the sports world by storm.
The growth of the sport is fuelled by a search for alternatives to traditional contact sports, due to increased understanding of long-term head traumas from repetitive concussions.
The Border City Centurions have seized this opportunity, having squads for both adult and junior players.
The team's growth has already exceeded 100 members, composed of players, coaches, supporters and volunteers from across Cumbria and South Scotland.
The Centurions are affiliated with the British American Football Association and compete in Division 1 of the UK National Flag Football League.
The club welcomes everyone, regardless of gender or experience.
The squad's kit can even be provided thanks to kind sponsors.
