Former Carlisle United manager Keith Millen has been hit with a misconduct charge.
The Football Association has issued the charge over an incident in the Gillingham v Walsall game in League Two last weekend.
Millen, who is caretaker manager of the Gills, appeared to trip Tom Knowles in the 28th minute as the Saddlers player looked to gather the ball for a throw-in.
The ex-Blues boss was sent off and must now answer a disciplinary charge.
An FA statement said: "Gillingham's interim head coach, Keith Millen, has been charged with misconduct following their EFL League Two game against Walsall on Saturday, 14 October.

"It's alleged that his behaviour during the 28th minute was improper, and he has until Friday, October 20 to provide a response."
It was Millen's second game in caretaker charge of Gillingham following the sacking of Neil Harris.
His side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Walsall, having beaten MK Dons in his first match at the temporary helm.
Millen, 57, is back in the dugout having stepped up from his position of head of academy coaching at Priestfield.
He was United's manager for a short-lived spell from October 2021 to February 2022.
