THE AMERICAN family who could potentially be future owners of Carlisle United have made their latest appearance at Brunton Park for the Blues' clash with Burton Albion.

Tom Piatak Snr.'s latest appearance at a United match comes days after they followed the Blues to the south coast and watched as Paul Simpson's side were cruelly beaten in extra time at Fratton Park

It also comes as Carlisle fans eagerly await any updates on the takeover talks involving Tom Piatak Snr. and his family, who speaking to the News & Star last month had said that there was optimism that a deal could be concluded between October 14-20.

Despite the passing of this window, the potential takeover appears to be on track, with Blues chief executive Nigel Clibbens commenting on a 'positive' week of talks and suggesting there were no grounds for concern with the other aspects of the process, such as the drawing up of new shareholder agreements and the EFL regulatory process, prior to Carlisle's trip to Portsmouth.

Clibbens had also said that a 'resolution' was 'close' on the club’s debt situation with Purepay Retail Limited, in a significant update on the proposed takeover.

United boss Paul Simpson also gave his thoughts on the potential takeover following the attendance of Tom Piatak Snr. at Fratton Park.

"Without a doubt it seems to be a positive thing," He said.

"I’m only going off the things I’m reading or being told about in the press, but yes, the fact they’re here is a really positive thing.

"I did actually see them as I came off, sat up in the directors’ box.

"For the sake of the football club, for the sake of us to try and move forward, we need that, we need that positivity, we need this change to happen.

"Everybody who’s involved obviously thinks it’s the right thing, and we’ve just got to see what comes."
