Carlisle United fans gave us their views on social media platform X after the 1-0 defeat to Cambridge United - here's a selection of their comments:
Very disappointing. Too many failed to turn up. After a bright start, we descended to Cambridge's level, then got worse. With no obvious target-man, we look toothless. These are the games we should take something from. We can't keep throwing these chances away. (@BruceVander)
Such a shame the good start couldn't have been built upon. It got steadily worse and ended up turning into a bit of a farce really. They looked flat & leggy & struggled to build any momentum. The ref didn't help but it's not why we lost. Hopefully just a bad day at the office. (@BackoSkiddaw)
Absolutely awful, that 2nd half probably the worst seen under the current management team. We allowed ourselves to stoop to Cambridge's level and got annihilated. All their attacks came from us giving the ball away, cue their goal. To have no shots on target against that team...the only positive was meeting the Piataks on the way to the ground. Please do not pull out of the transaction... (@MartinCrellin1)
Both teams were garbage, but in the second half we put ourselves in the bin, and closed the lid. (@dubhead77)
Second half performance was a disgrace, we were outplayed and outclassed. Any more displays like that and Division 2 here we come. No positives to take from that at all. (@peterjo91525330)
No mitigation, and no positives to take from it - that was an awful performance, bereft of fighting spirit and quality. Not a single save from their keeper. Cambridge aren't a good side, and this was a very costly result. Not good enough. (@buzzisbackCUFC)
Poor. It's hard to understand why we are so inconsistent. Would drop Moxon and Guy but we don't have anyone to replace them. Recruitment in summer isn't looking great bar a few. Why do we get so many injuries? Orient is a free hit, so let's give some of them a rest. (@timgv123)
Horrible second half, bereft of anything positive. Down to 9 men...where's Scott Dobie when you need him? (@keithelliott94)
You simply can't turn in performances like that after midweek, same v Orient after Bolton. Hate to say it but Moxon needs to sign or go in January. With what looks like money to spend in the window, some need to perform or they're out and off. (@FeelingHoly)
Watched two teams playing like they were in League 2, which on that showing they could be next season if something doesn’t change. Thought losing Fin Back before kick off didn’t help. Our shape just never looked right… (@JHallHDI)
Well listening to James and Lummy it sounded like a bright start - terrible middle and even worse by the end. How do we get some consistency? Best forgotten by the sounds of it. (@LindaNi121202)
Ref was awful but so were we. Cambridge were the for the taking and we bottled it. Some simply not worth the wage, big change needed January (@frostie_)
Wouldn't normally comment on a poor performance, but there were players lacking desire. I thought in the 1st half Cambridge were there for the taking. 2nd half WE didn't show up. I do hope Simmo has midfielders on his shopping list (@alstlkr1967)
That was clart.. not many can walk off today and say 'I did my best...' I thought Barclay was ok... Where was the team that battered Burton mid-week? (@johnstone_mikey)
Not one to hammer referees but the two red cards were two of his better decisions…every single 50:50 call went against us. Fouls in dangerous areas not penalised, soft fouls given for Cambridge. Some dodgy offsides. Garner didn’t get a sniff off him, limiting his game somewhat. (@J_Walton)
Aaargh !! Repeat 20 times (@Blencath007)
I expect big changes in January, it's no good playing like that after playing so well last Tuesday. Subs didn't change the game at all - big clear out in January (@GeoffRo39583097)
We need reinforcements in January, half of this team simply aren’t League 1 standard. Somehow I think January will come too late (@FellPeter)
Awful, outclassed from half time onwards. In my opinion Armer needs to be dropped by Robinson. As soon as he took off Butterworth everything collapsed (@JoshuaMusgrave3)
Must have been a difference set of lads from the ones on Tuesday (@Halli1904)
Jeer. I need a peeve. Gone from 11 top performances Tuesday to about 2 slightly above average ones today (@leecrowe007)
It's like 2 different sides from last week, peeve needed (@66_smudge)
