Cumbrian swimming star Luke Greenbank has been named in the British squad for next month’s European Short Course Championships.
The Cockermouth swimmer is in a 35-strong squad for the event in Romania.
Backstroke star Greenbank will compete at the Aquatics Complex of Otopeni near Bucharest from December 5 to 10.
It will give the 26-year-old the chance to impress as the British set-up continue assessing their top swimmers ahead of next year’s Olympic Games.
Greenbank will be out to impress having missed out on selection for this year’s World Championships.
The former Cockermouth School boy – a double Olympic medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Games – is joined in the squad by the likes of Tom Dean, Joe Litchfield, Ben Proud and Anna Hopkin.
Bill Furniss, British Swimming’s head coach, said: “The European Short Course Championships are a great opportunity for us to assess where the athletes are at come the end of the first training block of Olympic year.
“It will also be a great opportunity to continue building team morale as we build towards the Olympic Games, with the team list combining our more experienced swimmers with some new faces to the senior team.”
