A look at some of the latest news and gossip from around Carlisle United's division...
HUNGARY CALL-UP COSTS TYKES
Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles will miss their clash with Carlisle this month - after being called up by Hungary.
The 23-year-old, who qualifies for Hungary through his grandparents, is in their squad for Euro qualifiers against Bulgaria and Montenegro.
It will rule him out of United's visit to Oakwell on November 18. "We wish Callum the best of luck for the upcoming fixtures," a Barnsley statement said. Young Tykes players Josiah Dyer and Fabio Jalo have also been called up by Montserrat and Portugal U19s respectively.
MILLERS MONITORING POSH STAR
Rotherham United boss Matt Taylor is monitoring the progress of loanee Peter Kioso at Peterborough.
The defender has performed well at Posh.
Taylor told the Rotherham Advertiser: "I’ve been to watch him this season, the staff have been to watch him too. Trust me, League One is a totally different animal to the Championship. We’ll assess it."
ROBINS' EX-BLUES MAN HINTS AT OVERHAUL
Cheltenham Town's assistant boss Adam Murray - the former Carlisle midfielder - has hinted at big changes to their squad in January.
The struggling Robins, who are second bottom in League One, lost 4-0 at home to West Ham United's Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday.
Murray, Darrell Clarke's No2, told GloucestershireLive, there were "only a certain amount of chances" left for some players and added that the squad was too big. "The plan has to be to reduce numbers and have a core group of people that are fighting one goal," he added.
CONTENDERS FOR OXFORD JOB
The bookmakers have drawn up an early list of contenders for the Oxford United job after Liam Manning joined Bristol City as Nigel Pearson's successor.
BetVictor have installed Des Buckingham, the Mumbai City boss and a former Oxford coach, 3/1 favourite with recently-axed Birmingham City man John Eustace 5/1.
Danny Cowley and Steve Cotterill are also among the frontrunners with Gareth Ainsworth and caretaker Craig Short also in the mix, while ex-Carlisle men Keith Curle and Nathan Rooney are a more distant 33/1.
Manning left Oxford second in the table as he moved to the Championship on Tuesday.
COBBLERS BOSS WANTS RETURN TO FORM
Struggling Northampton Town are desperate for a return to form after their FA Cup upset at the hands of Barrow.
Jon Brady's side are back at Sixfields on Saturday when they host Burton Albion. The Cobblers are 20th, level on points with fourth-bottom Carlisle, after six games without a win in all competitions.
“We’ve had bumps in the road in the past and bounced back really well," boss Brady told the club website.
“It’s not that long ago we were putting in a really good performance against Leyton Orient. We are in a tough period at the moment and in the last two games we’ve lost that bit of energy and spark. We need to get back to that and start building that momentum in games again."
VALIANTS RECALL LOANEE
Port Vale have recalled young midfielder Tommy McDermott from his loan spell at Rochdale.
The 18-year-old made five appearances for the National League club, but now returns to Vale Park.
He was involved as a substitute for Andy Crosby's side in Tuesday's 2-1 Bristol Street Motors Trophy defeat at Wrexham.
GRECIANS TARGET END TO WRETCHED RUN
Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell believes the Grecians can come out of their current dreadful run.
The Devon side have lost eight of their last nine games and sit 18th - another side Carlisle could catch this weekend.
“Although it’s a terrible run, we can’t look at everything and say that everything is bad," insisted Caldlwell to Devon Live.
“There are a lot of things still to play for this season, so hopefully we go out and fight for that. I think that’s clear and we are doing a lot right as well."
ROBINSON LINKED WITH GAS JOB
Former MK Dons and Oxford United boss Karl Robinson is a reported frontrunner for the vacancy at Bristol Rovers, who face Carlisle on Saturday.
Robinson is evens with bookmakers while Bristol Live say other names of interest include Dean Holden, Garry Monk, and Neil Harris.
Andy Mangan is in caretaker charge following the recent sacking of Joey Barton at the 12th-placed Pirates.
