Carlisle United fans gave us their thoughts on social media platform X after the Piatak era started with a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic at Brunton Park.
Here's a selection of their comments.
A fantastic atmosphere pre-match. Followed by a match that showed the gulf between our squad and Charlton's. As a performance, United battled and dug-out a point, but there is a lot of work for the new owners to do before we can dream of safety. Holy was my MoM. (@BruceVander)
Well the crowd rose to the occasion and an occasion it was, but unfortunately it looked like many recent games, plenty effort but no end product. However a face saver popped up in the form of a former Charlton player, and we know only too well how that works usually against us (@LindaNi121202)
Good point. The basics are missing up top, but the players gave there all. Great turn out for the new owners, upwards and onwards. (@dubhead77)
Probably the perfect game and result. We didn’t lose but we got a healthy dose of realism about what’s required to compete. Happy with a very hard fought point. (@carrstablewater)
A draw was a fair result today. Solid displays from Holy, Whelan, Lavelle and McGeouch. Emmanuel had an impressive debut and was MOTM for me. (@RonnieSmith1964)
We lack creativity, lack forwards who can challenge, hold the ball up etc. Probably short on midfielders who know how to work together. But the day belonged to the new era, fantastic welcome for fantastic people. It's now time to go to work. It's a point. (@carlisl9125)
Not a bad performance. Probably the best you can do with that group of players. Hector for them the best player on the park by a long distance (@carlisletom)
Charlton are a decent side and shouldn’t be mid-table Good touches created space which caused us bother at times, but we held our own…. Onwards and upwards (@TheOtherTrigger)
Given the limited choice of players today I would rate that a good point. (@NotInSeddon)
Well, we played pretty rubbish and still drew with Charlton Athletic, it’s a bit of a dream really!!! A great week and an early display to the lovely Piatak family as to what’s needed for our King, now peeve (@mancumbrianmike)
Who could have asked for more (well a win)...brill atmosphere, 10,400 and a good game. 50-50 1st half, 2nd half they stepped up a gear and scored but United didn't give up and fought back. Holy was superb controlling his box, young Joshua had a great game and Lavelle finished off a fine game with a goal. (@ericgreen866)
Rode our luck, plenty of effort but lacking in quality. What has happened to Moxon? He is a shadow of his former self I think all the transfer talk has ruined his game to the extent that he doesn't deserve to start. New lad impressed, we need a few more like him, UTB. (@peterjo91525330)
Emmanuel, McGeouch and Holy the best three players for us today, if it's going to be big changes we need creative midfield player, two strikers, a wide player and another centre-back (@GeoffRo39583097)
Was a good game to watch and a good point to get (@billfoy34251)
Some good performances from some but we still lack decent forwards. Just don't get Plange, sorry but is not even good enough for the bench never mind the starting line up (@frostie_)
