We shared the news of the landmark day at Carlisle United as the Piatak era got underway.

The Blues' new American owners received a huge welcome from fans at the 10,000-plus crowd at Brunton Park.

From a rapturous reception on the pitch to mingling with fans before the 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic, photographers Barbara Abbott and Ben Holmes were there to capture all the memorable scenes.

Here's how readers reacted.

Alison Dickson said: "It was a fantastic afternoon I really enjoyed it."

Ian Green said: "Unusually, I could hear the crowd from my house."

Paul Alan Graham was sceptical, saying 'time will tell' if the takeover would be a success for Carlisle Utd.

The Facebook page Cumbria and The Borders History said: "A real buzz around the place yesterday, the whole day was a great experience and definitely pleased with the point."

Phil Jones said: "Hope this works, but it is concerning that non-CUFC fans now own the club. Fingers crossed we do not regret this takeover."

Mike Griffiths said: "I remember our American takeover at Chester City. Terry Smith said we would be playing in the championship in three years. We went bust and have spent 15 years in the depths of non-league. Hope it works out better for Carlisle."
