Carlisle United fans gave us their reaction on social media platform X after the 3-0 defeat at Blackpool - here is a selection of their comments.
Frustrating performance because we gifted them goals and failed to take chances when we fought back. Some basic errors compounding our threadbare squad. Luke Plange isn’t the reason we’re struggling, though to hear some fans today you’d think so. Trust in Simmo - he’ll do it (@tim_martland)
Disappointing, more mistakes costing us. I heard Simmo's radio interview, and he sounded hurt. Need to make next weekend all about showing our backing to Simmo. We lack quality as we're a League One team with a League Two budget until January, remember where we'd be had he not come back (@mikebcarlisle)
100% with Simmo when he says it’s not a lack of effort but a a lack of quality. We know that. Folk saying lads don’t care need to give their heads a wobble. Only disagree with Plange, young but got to give more at this level. Got to take the rough with the smooth. All will be well (@AdWhitfield94)
We need a deep freeze to start next Friday night and last for about three weeks otherwise it could be a lot harder to get players in during the transfer window. Hard to see where any goals are going to come from and we look completely drained. (@ticketaddict)
100% behind Simmo. We were heading for oblivion before he arrived.... he got us promoted years ahead of schedule....and attracted new ownership on the back of it. We were bound to struggle this year. We just don't have the quality. Back Simmo to turn it around. (@northumbrian_)
We need to stand by Simmo. Giving him abuse is going to get us nowhere. He got us here and had to make do with a League Two budget. Fans can be so fickle. (@Blue_lucy_88)
Simpson can only work with what he is given non league teams have a bigger budget than us and we’re in League 1, any fan booing him before he has been given extra funding by the new owners is off their heads. Maybe the booers I suggest get lost back to there armchairs on a Sat.. (Alistairwest145)
Just got to the car and heard Simmo on Radio Cumbria, he’s devastated about the abuse he received at the end. What a disgrace some of the insults shouted. We need Simmo more than he needs us! Get a grip on the current, short term situation you whinging idiots (@IWood6)
I have referred before to the 1962-63 season similarities. After 20 games we were bottom of the table. W3 D6 L11 Goal Diff -19. We waited too long that year to fix it. January is key. (@NotInSeddon)
100% behind Simmo! Agree with the tactics, we’re being caught out on mistakes and quality. Gotta stick together hope we can do enough to turn this around. #cufc (@fish_blues)
Don't get me wrong, we didn't play great at all however, McCalmont and Gibson put them chances away and we are sat at 2-2. Fine margins are continually killing us this season unfortunately. (@peterbell83)
I’ll always be behind Simmo, but that was abysmal. Not surprised though, summer recruitment was poor (@rhyswjenkins1)
Can someone tell Holy to be more positive, could have come and claimed that ball. To me it looked very half hearted. 2nd and 3rd goals were unlucky.. (@SpursTt)
Best player starts on the bench? His team, his tactics. Yes, thank you for 2021/22 & 2022/23. The manager is gonna have to perform with the Yankee Dollar behind him. I'll support the team until the end but I have every right to criticise as as long as I don't overstep the mark. (@FeelingHoly)
Still completely behind Simmo and this team. Completely agree with Simmo’s words after the game. This man saved this club and this group of players got us out of L2. Got to stick behind this group and make sure we fight for L1 survival. (@Matthew_Suddart)
9 points over Christmas and we'll be back on the horse, too early to panic, the squad isn't strong enough - come May is what really counts (@Mcmanus36)
A very disappointing day. I don’t think you can question the effort of any of the players or staff. However, the application and quality were poor from the start. Also disappointing to see ‘fans’ abusing the aforementioned at the end of the game. Fair enough, voice your displeasure but to hurl abuse at individuals isn’t acceptable. The players & staff knew how bad it was - they looked pretty dejected to me. (@Luguvalium1)
We were poor today. If in doubt start your best team. Gibson best player got 10 mins? Armer on bench? Boos were deserved, nothing else (@SAMaccaEsq)
Starting to lose faith but blame really lies with Greg Abbott for the summer recruitment. But on that performance today how can you defend Simmo on that. (@tommo0169)
Massively out of our depth. That squad of players isn’t L1 standard. Starting to look ominous, can’t keep speaking like January will see a miraculous upturn in form either, just can’t see it happening. (@johny_wood)
Team selection was puzzling, leaving Gibson out, Plange not good enough to start ! Next 3 games are huge or the January window's going to come toe late ! Need to pick points up asap (@cmackay414)
If we keep gifting goals then, we will lose games, big gulf in class again. I was very disappointed in Simmo's comments about being abused and his veiled comments about quitting, because of a few foul mouthed people. It is an insult to the vast majority of fans who back him. (@peterjo91525330)
