Perspective has to be the watch word after the last two away defeats.

Perspective that, as little as seven months ago, the sides in question [United and Blackpool] were separated by more than an entire division.

Perspective that just 12 months prior to that, a number of our current squad were battling to prevent that gulf expanding beyond two whole divisions.

Perspective also perhaps, that following the pomp, ceremony, hope and expectation of the Charlton match, nothing significant on the pitch has been able to happen other than Paul Simpson shuffling his beleaguered pack.

The family are saddled up on the horizon, standard raised and promised 2024 step budget in hand, but currently even this is unable to create or prevent goals. That time frame cannot be fast tracked.

Twelve more crucial points are up for grabs before we get to January, nothing is likely to happen between now and then in terms of free agent recruitment, so we have to pull together as one with what we have. Players, manager, coaches and significantly supporters.

Splintering our resources now is highly likely to contribute to a paltry return from the potential dozen points.

We’ve been through much worse times, in much more trying circumstances, with significantly poorer players, so let’s get behind these lads giving it their best, starting on Saturday and show them we support them to the hilt and haven’t lost faith in our leader to steer our ship through these choppy waters.

Even come January, and the reinforcements arrival, it’s possible, although expected to be 1st XI ready, they may take time to bear fruit and will need our support even more as they settle in for the battle campaign to come.

No one is, or should be beyond criticism, but in Simmo we have trusted, and in Simmo we should trust now. He’s proved time and again that he’s absolutely worth our trust.

The new look CUOSC board will have had our first meeting at time of going to press and we are committed to continuing to provide supporters with a voice in the CUFC boardroom.

Monday, December 18 will see our representative’s first 1921 board meeting with the new owners. We subsequently expect to be able to provide an update on your quick win suggestions and their progress.

We are as always welcoming of your feedback and suggestions.
