A non-league football side in Cumbria were delighted to welcome an England and Manchester United star to their game on Tuesday night.
Workington AFC were hosting Worksop Town in the Non-League Premier, for their second home game in quick succession.
Conditions were cold and windy at Borough Park but that didn’t stop England’s Ella Toone from making the trip north to watch the game.
The 24-year-old, who scored against Germany in the Euro final in 2022, was in attendance to watch her partner Joe Bunney.
The former Rochdale man signed for Workington on a 28-day loan from Stalybridge Celtic last month and has been a regular in Danny Grainger’s squad ever since.
Ella perhaps could have stayed in Manchester to see the men’s Manchester United side drop out of European football after a home defeat against Bayern Munich, but will perhaps be glad she made the trip to Cumbria instead, as Workington and Worksop played out an exhilarating 3-3 draw.

It was a perfect start for Workington as David Symington gave them the lead after two minutes, but goals from Hamza Bencherif and James Hanson put the high-flying visitors 2-1 up before half-time.
When Regan Hutchinson made it 3-1 on the hour mark it seemed as if the points would be heading home with Worksop, but a late goal from Steven Rigg gave the Reds hope and Brad Hubbold secured an unlikely point with a 90th-minute rocket.
Manager Danny Grainger said: "I am very proud of the way the players kept in the game against a very, very good side and that allowed us to get something out of it with those two late goals.
"At 3-1 to Worksop that would have gone on to be five or six with the way we were playing earlier in the season, but it’s a sign of how the players have responded since the Marske defeat that we came back to draw."
Unless Bunney’s loan is extended, it may be the last time we see Toone at Borough Park, although the exciting comeback might just make her Workington Reds’ newest fan.
