Northampton Town boss Jon Brady was pleased with a point against a Carlisle United side he feels are fighting for their lives and their manager.
The Cobblers denied United victory in added time when Kieron Bowie struck to make it 2-2.
While Carlisle’s winless run went on, Brady praised Paul Simpson’s side for the battling spirit they showed in spades during the Brunton Park clash.
“All things considered, this is a good point,” he said on his club’s website.
“We were not at our best today. At times we needed to take one more pass and we didn’t take too much care of the ball on occasions.
“We came up against a side who showed a lot of fight. They are fighting for their position in the table, they are fighting for their fans and they are fighting for their manager who is a very good man.
“That makes it a tough place to come and when you are 2-1 down going in to injury time, you will always respect the point.”
Brady’s side led when Shaun McWilliams’ shot slipped through Tomas Holy’s grasp, before Jack Armer and ex-Cobblers striker Ryan Edmondson turned things around for United.
Bowie then levelled in the dying moments for the 12th-placed visitors.
Brady, who included ex-Blues Patrick Brough and Jack Sowerby in his line-up, felt his side “lost a bit of control” of the game in the second half but said his side found a way to gain a result.
“At times in the second half, we needed to show more composure and play that extra pass because we were guilty of turning the ball over on too many occasions,” he told the Chronicle & Echo.
"That meant we lost a bit of control in the game but we made a couple of changes near the end and Kieron pops up with the equaliser so the boys showed great spirit and character to keep going.”
