Carlisle United must defy ever-shortening odds if they are to pull off League One survival this season.

The Blues, now seven points adrift of safety, are as short as 1/7 for the drop in the latest bookmakers' odds.

Second-bottom United's gap to survival increased on Saturday with Paul Simpson's side out of action and some other strugglers' games surviving the weather.

Exeter City's draw with Cambridge United increased Carlisle's survival gap and the Cumbrians are 1/7 with William Hill to go down and 1/6 with Bet365 and 888Sport.

Bottom side Fleetwood Town are 1/7 with all bookies to sink into League Two.

United's fellow strugglers Cheltenham Town are also odds-on, Darrell Clarke's Robins 5/6 for relegation with William Hill and 10/11 with others.

The other side in the bottom four, Reading, are priced 1/2 for relegation by Bet365 and 9/10 by BetUK.

Fifth-bottom Exeter are 11/8 with Shrewsbury Town 13/8 to go down, Burton Albion 10/3, Wigan Athletic 12/1 and Wycombe Wanderers 16/1.

Fleetwood are 6/4 with Bet365 to finish bottom of the table with Carlisle 13/8 to finish 24th out of 24.

Reading are 7/2 to end up bottom of the pile and Cheltenham 9/1.
