Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson says he’s already impressed with the work of one of the new additions to his backroom staff.

Simpson is pleased with the early input of analyst Glenn Boden, who recently joined the Blues from Scunthorpe United.

Boden has linked up with United as first-team analyst.

He is focusing on the match preparation side of analysis, allowing fellow analyst Jacob Blain to lean more to the recruitment side of things.

Simpson says the new man has made valuable input already.

“Glenn’s another new face and is really good on the analysis side,” said Simpson.

“I’m really pleased with what I've seen of him so far.

“He's really enjoying his work.

“So I'm hoping that he's going to be another piece of the coaching staff that's going to help us moving forward.”

Boden joined Carlisle from National League North club Scunthorpe, where he had been since 2018, initially as head of academy analysis, before stepping up to head of football analysis four years later.

He was also head of academy strength and conditioning for a 16-month period.

Boden, a graduate in sport, exercise and coaching science from the University of Hull, is one of two recent additions to Simpson's backroom team with Billy Barr also returning to the club as first-team coach.

Their arrivals follow other off-field recruits this season, including head of performance Jake Simpson and strength and conditioning coach Adam Kwiecien.

The Blues are also recruiting another physio.

Carlisle have also added to their media department with the arrival of James Gates.

From South Shields, Gates has joined the club as media assistant, after previously working with Mansfield Town and Morecambe.

He joins Amy Nixon in a media department which saw the departure last November of long-serving media officer Andy Hall. The Blues have yet to confirm an appointment as head of media and marketing.
