Carlisle-born Joe White does not look out of place among Newcastle United's Premier League stars, manager Eddie Howe has said.
The young Cumbrian midfielder made his top-flight debut for the Magpies in their 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
White, who came off the bench in the closing stages at St James' Park, was handed his chance after impressing following his return to the club from a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra.
Manager Howe said the 21-year-old fully merited his opportunity.
"He's come back from his loan spell and done really well. I've been really impressed with him in training," said Howe, speaking via NUFC TV.
"He's fitted into the group really well and doesn't look out of place, which is a real statement.

"If you're not out of place and you're fitting in it means you're at Premier League level.
"Joe's really grown from his loan spell, I think it's really benefited him.
"I'm delighted with his impact today, because he's earned my trust through his training and he's taken his opportunity."
White, who has come through Newcastle's academy ranks after joining from Carlisle, is getting his chance after a number of injuries to Howe's senior players.
The former England Under-18 international gained valuable first-team experience with Crewe in League Two in the first half of the season.
The Railwaymen wanted to keep White for the season, while speculation also linked him with the fourth tier's leaders Stockport County.
But Howe was determined to take a close look at the skilful midfielder upon his return to the Magpies in January.
White came on for Lewis Miley in the 89th minute of Saturday's game against Bournemouth.
The young Cumbrian, posting on social media, described his first senior outing for Newcastle as a "dream".
White is the grandson of the late former Carlisle United player, coach and physio and ex-Workington Reds manager Peter Hampton.
