A teenage Carlisle fighter is set for his latest championship bout.
18-year-old Matty McLeish, who fights out of Lorne Street's Dragon's Gym, will take on UK kickboxing champion Sam Stout at the Walker Dome, Newcastle on Saturday, March 23.
The fight for Matty represents a chance for the Carlisle teenager to unify his British Muay Thai title with his opponent's British K1 kickboxing title.
Matty also comes into the fight after a successful trip to Bangkok, Thailand which saw him fight in the iconic Rajadamnern Stadium and receive specialist training from some of the biggest names in Muay Thai at the Superbon Gym in the Thai capital.
Matty's coach and father, Matty McLeish Snr., spoke about his son's upcoming championship fight and the opportunities it could unlock for the rising local fighter.
He said: "This opportunity came up for Matty to unify both belts and he can become the undisputed champion at both disciplines which could further his chances to fight on the world stage."
