"Yeeeeeeeeesssssssss!" A WIN! Away from home! A clean sheet! It couldn’t be on could it? Well why not? Almost two years to the day a 1-0 away win set us on a run of six wins in seven games and pulled us clear of the drop to the National League abyss after a wretched season to date.
That may not be enough this time around, but we’ve got to start somewhere and who knows. This is Carlisle United, it’s never going to be straightforward, so strap in and let’s enjoy the ride.
I’ve no doubt this will be referred to from at least one quarter as ‘ridiculous’ but while there is life there is hope, and we have just about kept ourselves alive. A single swallow has a lot of heavy lifting to do to make anything like a summer, but the lift that one result can bring could be just the shot in the arm we needed to do something incredible.
Whichever camp you are in, in respect of the managerial set-up in this current situation, we need to unite behind this group of players if there is any chance of pulling off that miracle. They showed on Tuesday night at Burton that they will put the effort in to fight for it, and we can battle alongside them from the terraces.
The club this week announced the #onecarlisleonecommunity celebration game against Stevenage on March 23. The collaboration between Carlisle United and The University of Cumbria will celebrate individuals and organisations that make up our community.
The match will also see a return of the £10 ticket promotion. If the latest great escape is still on, what better way to keep it going than a packed and bouncing Brunton Park?
CUOSC have also been working with The University of Cumbria on a number of projects, such as the collaboration that enabled the members' meeting at the Halston Hotel to be streamed so professionally. We look forward to working with Ed and the University going forward.
Head over to our website www.cuosc.org.uk to join and be a part of the future of your club. It currently costs £10 for an adult for one year and £5 for seniors and under-18s.
