Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes the club are right to make Jarrad Branthwaite a top target.
Everton's Cumbrian defender, who is training with the England squad for the first time, has been linked with a big-money move.
Man Utd are among the clubs to be regularly linked with the 21-year-old from Wigton.
And after latest reports that the Old Trafford club are making Branthwaite a top summer target, Saha believes the signs are that the ex-Carlisle United man could be just what the Red Devils need.
“He will have to prove that he’s good enough because there’s a lot of talent in Manchester United’s squad and it’s a big step up coming from Everton,” Saha told Betfred.
"Just buzzing to be here!" 😀

Branthwaite hailed as 'shining light' for Carlisle United's academy
“Jarrad has a lot of quality, he’s got the physique, he comes across as down to earth and he seems to have the right people around him, so there are a lot of indications that suggest he could be the right fit.
“If Manchester United wants to buy a player, then that’s because they’re performing on a regular basis for their club, so I do believe Jarrad is the right target.
"You need to be prepared mentally to make the move to a club like Manchester United because it’s such a big step.”
Branthwaite's stock has risen considerably this season after a string of impressive performances in the Premier League.
His form has earned him a first call-up to the England senior squad, with Branthwaite currently training with the Three Lions ahead of friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
Carlisle would stand to benefit significantly from a big-money move, under the terms of Branthwaite's switch from the Blues to Everton in January 2020.
Nigel Clibbens, the club's chief executive, said recently that there could be "significant" proceeds for United.
Clibbens and the Blues have not, though, commented on potential revenue from Branthwaite playing for England.
