EGREMONT RUFC U14s have been crowned the first-ever girls' County Cup champions, beating their Keswick counterparts on March 24.
The historic win took place at Aspatria as the game had to be played on neutral ground. Media coordinator David Pater said: "We couldn't have asked for a better day. It was good weather, a good crowd and a great day of rugby.
“Even though the girls won, it took some time for it to sink in but once we got back, they let their hair down and celebrated.”
The club envisions a promising future for its youth sides.
Mr Pater continued: “We have three age groups under-12s, 14s and 16s. Unfortunately, we got knocked out of the under-16s competitions, but going forward our under-12 girls who are moving up and the girls staying with the under-14s, will want to keep their crown.
"A lot of girls from the under-14s who will move to the under-16 age group, will want to progress more. We have a good flow into all our age divisions."
