Former Carlisle United striker Ashley Nadesan has been made available for transfer by the Blues' League Two rivals Gillingham.
The forward is among four under-contract players who will be allowed to leave the Kent club.
Gillingham confirmed they were prepared to allow 29-year-old Nadesan move on in their retained and released list after the end of the 2023/24 season.
Nadesan, who had two loan spells at United during his time at Fleetwood Town, scored three goals in 34 appearances for the Gills last term.
That followed his switch from Crawley Town, where he had spent the previous four years.
Gillingham finished 12th in the fourth tier last term having been tipped to challenge for promotion. They recently appointed ex-Cambridge United boss Mark Bonner as their new manager, after being led by Neil Harris and Stephen Clemence respectively in 2023/24.
Nadesan scored 13 goals in 43 appearances during his loan stints with the Blues in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 campaigns under Keith Curle and John Sheridan.
He is joined on the available list at Gillingham by George Lapslie, Oli Hawkins and Scott Malone.
The Priestfield Stadium club have also released eight players who are out of contract: Shaun Williams, Macauley Bonne, Ike Orji, Matty Macarthur, Ronald Sithole, Josh Chambers, Kieron Agbebi and Nathan Harvey.
Former United defender Max Ehmer is among the players still under contract at Gillingham.
