WE shared the news that former Carlisle United star Jordan Gibson will face the Blues next season - after joining one of their League Two rivals.

The attacking midfielder has signed for Doncaster Rovers on a two-year deal.

It follows his release by the Blues at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The 26-year-old, whose deal with Donny has the option of a further year, has secured his future a month after leaving the Cumbrians, where he was top scorer last season.

Our readers reacted to the news of his departure.

Vincent Parker said: "Saddened that he has been allowed to leave. With the proper coaching, he could be a real asset. I wish the lad luck."

George Hunt said: "Gibbo will be a very hard player to replace, who can score, has ability to actually beat defenders and have a go. He'll have the last laugh against us no doubt."

Adrian Paul said: "Good luck to the lad, shame Simmo wasn't able to get the best out of him on a consistent basis as there is a player there. So comfortable on the ball, technically good, surprised he wasn't able to get a League One club."

One web user said: "A good acquisition for Donny," while another commented: "Almost certain that he'll score against us."
