Former Carlisle United goalkeeper Mark Gillespie has extended his stay at boyhood club Newcastle United.
The ex-Blues No1 has seen his deal at St James' Park extended until the end of next season.
Gillespie has been a back-up keeper with the Magpies for the last four years.
The 32-year-old has made just three first-team appearances but is regarded an important part of the squad by boss Eddie Howe.
The Newcastle boss has praised the work ethic of former United youth team product Gillespie, as he competes with first-team figures such as Nick Pope on Tyneside.
"I'm delighted to be extending my contract into next season," said Gillespie on the club website.
"This is the club I grew up supporting and it's a hugely exciting time to be a part of it.
"We have a brilliant group in the dressing room and at the training ground, and it's a great environment to work in. I'm already looking forward to pre-season and to getting back onto the grass."
Howe added: "Mark's attitude to his work and his consistency are of the highest order.
"He continues to set an example in how he trains, plays and supports his teammates, and that's a hugely important component in any squad. I'm delighted to have him with us."
Gillespie was with Newcastle as a youngster before coming through the youth team ranks at Carlisle.
He went on to make 180 appearances for the Blues between 2010 and 2017.
Since then he has played for Walsall and Motherwell before his return to Newcastle.
He is part of a Magpies first-team squad that also includes Carlisle-born midfielder Joe White.
Another Cumbrian, teenage winger Johnny Emerson, is also stepping up to the professional ranks at the Premier League club, the 18-year-old handed a professional deal after progressing through the academy.
