Peter Murphy has made former Carlisle United man Brennan Dickenson one of his first signings at Queen of the South.

Dickenson has joined the Doonhamers on a two-year deal after his departure from Oldham Athletic.

The 31-year-old bolsters Murphy's squad at Palmerston Park ahead of the 2024/25 Scottish League One season.

Dickenson, who was with Carlisle from 2020 to 2023, spent a spell of last season on loan at Hartlepool United, having joined fellow National League club Oldham last summer.

He now heads north of the border as United legend Murphy settles into life as Queens boss.

Murphy said of left-sided Dickenson's arrival: "We are delighted to sign Brennan after stiff competition from a number of suitors.

"Brennan has shown a real ambition to be a part of something special at the club.

"Having played the majority of his career in the English leagues we have a player with a wealth of experience [who] knows what it takes to push his team-mates to be better day in and day out.

"We are looking forward to seeing how Brennan can push himself which will no doubt help us to achieve greater things," added Murphy on the club website.

Dickenson made 55 appearances in his three Carlisle campaigns, the latter of which saw the former Colchester United man sidelined with an ACL injury.

He was one of two new signings unveiled by Murphy's new club on Friday.

The new boss has also raided his former club Annan Athletic to sign midfielder Benjamin Luissint.

The 25-year-old midfielder returns to Queens for a second spell following two years at Galabank.

The arrivals of Luissint and Dickenson were followed by news that an existing member of the Queens squad had committed to the club under Murphy's new tenure.

Defender Niall Rogerson, 18, has signed a one-year contract extension at the Dumfries club.
