TEENAGE Carlisle boxing star John Joe Carrigan is set to represent England at the 2024 GB Three Nations.

The event, which will take place at Cardiff's Sports Wales National Centre on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, will see the 16-year-old boxer take on the current Scottish and Welsh champions in the Youth Men 71kg category.

From Todhills and fighting out of Carlisle's Border City Amateur Boxing Club, Carrigan will form part of a team of 21 competitors who will travel to Wales for the event.

This event comes a year after the teenager was crowned Three Nations GB champion at the event that was held in Motherwell.

The event also comes as Carrigan enjoys a successful 2024, with the local fighter winning gold at the  EUBC Youth Championships, which were held in Croatia in April, and being invited to be assessed by Great Britain coaches in Sheffield in May.

Ahead of the Three Nations competition, Border City ABC coach Ian Archibald discussed the young fighter's current successes.

He said: "He’s in a really good place at the minute, travelling the world, learning, and getting better each time

"He is definitely one to watch out for in the future."
