FORMER Carlisle United loanee John-Kymani Gordon has been released by Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old striker, who spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Brunton Park, will leave Oliver Glasner's Eagles upon the expiry of his contract.

During his time with the Blues, Gordon scored twice in 17 appearances and started in the League Two play-off final victory over Stockport County at Wembley in May 2023.

The young striker also played an influential role in United's fightback in their semi-final against Bradford City, forcing the own-goal opener at Brunton Park which got Carlisle back in the tie.

Gordon's two goals for Carlisle United came early into his spell at Brunton Park against Newport County and Rochdale.

Last summer, Paul Simpson initially suggested he was interested in bringing the pacy forward back to Carlisle.

However, a deal never materialised and United instead turned to Gordon's Selhurst Park teammates in Luke Plange and later raided the Eagles for the temporary services of Sean Grehan, who has been retained.

After his loan spell at the Blues concluded, Gordon spent the 2023/24 campaign away from Selhurst Park, with back-to-back loans at Cambridge United and AFC Wimbledon where he made a combined 32 appearances, scoring a single goal.
